• Serial Numbers

Diamond Back BMX bikes used various formats of serial numbers which were usually dictated by the company that fabricated the framesets. Although they were also very different, they were NOT always 'easily' identifiable or simple to decipher. Koizumi, for example used the same format whoever they fabricated frame and forks for, whereas Akisu not only used different formats depending upon who they were supplying, but changed the format.

Use the various areas within this section to assist with who manufactured your frameset and in what year it was fabricated.

One thing to be aware of though is that framsets were not always stamped for the year the model represented, this was because they were fabricated (in some cases) well in advance to meet demand for the new year releases, or because a frame might have been fabricated at the later part of the year and sold several months later (e.g. fabricated in December, sold in January).
