Not many people know this but the Silver Streak was released in late 1981

The Silver Streak was identical geometry to the Medium Pro and released at a time when the Medium Pro was a current model. Here's an extract from Sandy's old site

THE FIRST DESIGNED BMX BIKE OF THE NEW DB WAS THE SUPER HOT SILVER STREAK (SUMMER 1981) ENTRY LEVEL RACING BIKE. DIAMOND BACK PLANNED TO GIVE A SNEAK PREVIEW OF THE BIKE AT THE NATIONAL RACE IN SAN DIEGO, CA. AND BMXA MAGAZINE WAS TAKING PICTURES TO DO A THING IN THE MAG.

SANDY FINKELMAN ALLOWED DB TO ASSEMBLE THE BIKE SECRETLY AT WHEELS N THINGS, BUT DB HAD NO NAME FOR IT AND NEEDED IT BEFORE THE RACE THE NEXT DAY.*THE SILVER STREAK WAS NAMED TWO HOURS BEFORE THE RACE, BY SANDY FINKELMAN

The SR three peice Silver Streak crankset was produced for the Japanese 'Silver Steak' model.

It's not unusual to find some models with SR MP134 Pedals (Chrome Plated) and later 1983 models supplied with a Sugino chainring (Harry Leary style), Custom-M pedals (Chrome Plated), Fuan grips (F1 type) and Dia-Compe Tech III and the snake style head stock decal (most common).

There were also three types of stem used, early had SR and later they switched to Sugino which were stamped slightly differently, some 'Diamond Back', some 'DB'.
