Diamond Back expanded their range somewhat, their lower end manufacturing continued to be manufactured by Akisu (Taiwan) and higher end models by Koizumi (Japan).

There was also the overhauling of some existing models, noticeably the 'Harry Leary' which was given a complete new frameset design

....and who would have thought Diamond Back would drop a name due to poor sales, bye-bye 'Pacer 500'. The 1st edition of this model was half finished when Sandy called it a day with DB, leaving DB to complete it with what they thought acceptable. It was released earlier than anticipated and dealers hated it with some removing the decals and self naming it the Super Streak.

This year really was the beginning of the end for Diamond Back
