Some of you know that I'm due to be made redundant at the end of January 2010 which is not something I'm really looking forward to in the current economic climate.

Having a website and forum costs money and for the main part something that I'd never expect members to contribute to.

Hosting works out approximately £75.00 per annum, and I've just purchased the next generation of forum software at a cost of £80.00

I've put a lot of time and effort into this place and still cannot keep up with what I want to do, but that means nothing if people do not participate. It's always been my philosophy that OS-DB.net is a family and not about one person.

Unfortunately, and swallowing some of my pride here I may well be looking for contributions to keep this place going.

It's not a large amount of money, but an outlay I could do without.

Why not have something like they do on Rad like the site supporters tag for the For Sale section?

I would put my bit in. i think phantoms idea is good, maybe a special tag next to your user name to show your a site supporter

So what sort of figure do people think is an acceptable amount, £10.00 per year?

Happy to pitch in too. 10 pound a year would be fine. Or whatever it ends up being.

I think £10.00 is a fair call. Here's some ideas as to what the contribution will assist.

1. helps with the costs of hosting

2. Forum software (I just purchased vB4, isn't even released as yet but I hope to build the new site and forum around it)

3. OS-DB.net decal production and shipping costs (I now have the decals that DB of the Month winners will receive) - more soon

4. Any other merchandise that we as a forum feel would benefit the community

feel free to to shout some more ideas

I'll hope to send a group email out soon about how to become a contributer and also have a thread relating to it.

'OS-DB Sponsor' also sounds credible

yer sounds good to me , a tener sounds fair for what we get on ere , selling for instance , the dreaded ebay fees alone , your recoup ya money straight away

I'd imagine it will run for 12mths from that date of payment
